Poster design/analysis

People
I wanted Matt to look into a strange corridor, while making him stand out with the glow effect.

Design

I wanted the poster to make people think that the protagonist is in a parallel world, where every thing is upside down, where up is down, where black is white, is inspired by the movie inception.

Colour
I chose the colours gold and red, to show how unreal the world the character has entered, because these colours aren’t usually in a normal environment.

Title
I made the title a slashed text, to give it a sense of ruin and decay.

Tagline
I used these words to show where the character is located and to show how powerful and how dangerous dreams can be.

Day 5&6-filming

Filming the punch scene

Filming me scene

Filming the gunshot scene

On these days we filmed the footage that we were going to edit afterwards, initially we tried to film it all in one day, but since a some one refused to go outside to get something when it's raining, so I had to go out for him, during my part of the filming, so that decreased our filming time, then we did the rest on monday and started to upload on the same day.

Day 3 & 4-Plan of filming the footage

On these days we planned on what we would do for filming on friday, what we need, costumes, equipment etc. We also planned what we would do and in what order: Alex first and sniffing money, Robert next with his mask and looking into the bag, then Sam being punched, to Matt shooting toward the camera, then me with sunglasses and "smoking", and finally Richard picking up the money my character has thrown on the floor.

Day7-9-editing footage and graphic images

On these days I put the footage on final cut, and started putting it in order and made stills, then I edited the stills to make the graphic images and put them in final cut, and put in the effects, like the gunshot fade and the fire moving on the pen. In the graphic images I put images that suit the character, and hand a different font for each character.

Day 2-Opening titles comparrison

In the lesson I had to pick and compare a film opening sequence and a TV opening sequence. The film I did for this was monty python and the holy grail and for the TV program adventure time, writing about the the strengths and weaknesses of the title sequences, what each have in common and there differences.

Day 1-Snatch planninng

For the first day, we were given a task telling us to make a title sequence and introduce the characters using a freeze frame, then show the characters in a graphic cartoon style like what snatch did to introduce their characters, we had to plan what character appeared when, and how we wipe to the next character.

Production day 11 Rough cut showing

Today we did a showing of the the movies we did so far. When they saw our short film they commented that we had good use of editing, good use of sound track, very good camera setups and great corridor tracking sequence. But some people couldn't understand the story or what's going on.

Production days 7,9,&12 Group 4 credits

On friday me and alex did an istop motion on a box turning around with credits on the side of the box, to change the transition by putting a box over the smaller box and turning the bigger box around then the box being lifted up and showing the smaller box with new writing on it and repeats until with see the list of people with special thanks, it took around 1 and a half hours to make a 27 second long credit sequence but I do appreciate how long it takes to animate some thing like Wallace and Grommet. We will re film it on wednesday for their are mistakes on the video.

Production day 5 Trapped SFX

For the SFX of our project we will make our own custom SFX track. We will use the windiest place in the college for the wind SFX. A guitar to make a screeching SFX. Heart beating, and more eerie sounds in the back ground. In the end we did not make our own SFX with instruments I listed, we instead use royalty free songs from incompetech.

Production days 2-8 Filming/Editing

We did half of our filming on tuesday, from the scene of Matt walking in the corridor, he then goes inside a room and puts down a box, he gets trapped, we edited it so it looks like there's a bit were a security  camera is recording him. What we did on wednesday was film the bit where Matt is outside the room and walking down the corridor then going outside and then going to show him seeing him self and then walking back inside. We were going to to film the bit with me in the suit, but we didn't have any time left, so in other words I got changed for nothing. But I'm glad I left it in the class. Rob and Matt were editing the main film and me and Alex are doing the credits, what we are doing for the credits is an Istop motion animation of a box turning around with labels on it of the people who did what.

Trapped title and credits ideas

Our ideas for the titles were: The protagonist is walking with the box in his hands then letters appear saying 'Trapped'. The alternative idea is the protagonist walks past a window holding a box, after passing the window the antagonist appears at the window then zooms in on his face then shows 'Trapped' instead of his face. The credits ideas are: showing a blurred scene of when the protagonist is trapped in the room and the credits are slanted in the corner of the screen. The alternative idea shows the writing on each side of the box, as it turns different writing appears.

Production day 2 Health and safety/film schedule

Today we had to record possible hazards in the places we will record in, like the forest bit of the college where we could trip up on branches. The film schedule is where we sorted out what we'll do for each day, for the first week we where doing post production. For the second week we filmed, edited and made credits. For the third week we are finalizing the editing for our short film. In the last week we will show our short film.

Production day 1 Group 4 props/costumes

The props/costumes we use is a black suit, two ties, torch, two formal shirts and a box. We were going to have the antagonist wear something with a hood but that seemed to predictable, so we went with something not as predictable. The idea for the suit for the antagonist, was inspired by the TV show supernatural where the antagonists wear suits instead of informal clothes, like jeans, T-shirts, jackets and trainers.

'Trapped' Initial planning

We all had different initial ideas. Matt's idea was a guy fighting a few people then him getting locked in the room with the guys he was fighting. Rob's idea was a guy walking in a room then getting trapped inside the room we then manages to get out then gets chased by a guy then he runs to an exit goes out then appears back in the room he was trapped in. Alex's is a man going into a lift it then stops in when the power cuts then he is trapped in an elevator. My idea was a man waking up in a windowless room strapped to a chair then a guy pulls out his tooth then wakes up in a windowless room strapped to a chair.
We then decided to adapt mine and Robs idea and we turned it into a guy going into a room with a sealed box saying 'DO NOT OPEN' on it, then him getting locked in the room and him trying to escape, he falls asleep after a while, then wakes up on the other side of the door and see some sleeping on the opposite side of the door of him, the last part is the main guy closing his eyes opening them and appear in a forest and after the credits it zooms in on a box in the distance.

MC 900ft Jesus - If I Only Had A Brain

This video was the video that our teacher showed us. He said that their could be a victim in the box that shows him shrunk, making it look like the box is a completely different dimension, but the idea didn't catch on so we didn't use it in the end.

Trapped target audience member

What we did for this task was find pictures that our target audience would like and putting the pictures together in photoshop then pointing arrows and labeling them. The audience member would maybe listen to heavy metal or music that sounds unique. They might like subway for for their fresh food they might like forbidden planet because because they have a lot of products that are horror affiliated or scfi affiliated products. They might like time paradox movies like Groundhog Day and Donnie Darko they might also watch dark sinister movies like the Dark Night or Terminator. They might watch movies and listen to music online also maybe look at games and movies that are gonna come soon.

The 'Find your tribe' I'm a Indie scenester, I'm not a trend setter, I wear what I feel like wearing, I listen to what I like when I like, I'm not fashionable at all, I do agree with working in some thing creative, but I don't blog or video cast. So I disagree with most of it.

Final new york sequence

What we did for this was load up our new york video file on final cut, then put the music we made in garage band in the final cut video. After that we had to put in titles like the actors, director and so on, Most of the people who I put the names in are either my mates or random references to things, like john  gomu is a reference to the anime one piece that I like quiet alot.

New york gargeband soundtrack session

What we did in this class was put our final cut videos on garageband. We then made soundtracks for it, we could use the music the we made awhile ago or make a new sound track for it, I went for a new one thats more calming, I used acoustic struming and raggie drums, my mate kept on saying that he heard it some where else before, I had no idea what he was on about. When we finnished we saved our songs.

New york final cut Session

In this session we used final cut to produce a video of new york using the files we already have. I made mine a minute long with fade in and fade out effects, for some reason I could not use the other effects I wanted which was annoying, but I had to make do with what I got. I made a 3 picture fade at some point, though it didn't work out very well.

Logo ident production

From our logo planning session we then had to produce it, first I made a smily face on photo shop their was regular smily face, cat face, different sizes of omg faces, then a hypnotized face and a the title, then I put it on final cut express and made it into a video with music from garage band, I also put a subliminal message of a dinosaur going WTF. When I finished making the video I then posted it on vimeo.

Logo planning session

We did drawings of our company logos to know what we want for our moving logos for short movies.  I wandered what font I should use for it, but i couldn't find one on the default system so I looked for a font on the internet, I found a font on the website dafont.com and searched for cartoon fonts and found "Curli cute". Mine was composed of a font called "Curly cute" and a smily face.

Logo research

For our logo research we had to draw two logos from a company, festival etc and also write about the logo, what it might represent and the history of it, I chose the bloodstock open air festival (B.O.A. for short) and the auto bot symbol, I also put colours on the drawing to show the where they are.

Club Flyer task

In this class we each made flyers for a club, first we searched flickr for pictures we wanted then we put the on photoshop so we can make our flyers, after we made our picture we put text on the flyer and change the colour then save it as a png file. We then went on flickr to upload it.

Earth & Eye exercise

For the earth & eye exercise, we had to turn a picture of the earth into the lens for an eye, we loaded the two pictures on to photo shop then put the full picture of the earth over the picture of the eye with the move tool. We then put them on different layers, then using the oval marquee tool around earth, then we used inverse so the space around the earth image gets deleted. Then we change the earths size to fit around the pupil, and the last thing we did was blend the earth into the eye by using the layers palette and selecting overlay and will blend the earth into the eye to make it look like an eye lens.
